About the author
Science Writer and AI Strategy Advisor
Tormod Guldvog has decades of experience as a communicator, journalist, editor and consultant. He currently works as a management advisor on generative AI. Tormod lives in Oslo, Norway.
He started his career in 1995 working as an editor for the first major commercial editorial web project in Norway, Origo. This was an innovative project run by Norwegian Telecom giant Telenor from 1995-97.
In 1997 he founded Horisont Information System and built Horisont Webdesk, one of the first commercially available web publishing platforms in Norway.
He founded Hypography - Science for Everyone (1998-2013), one of the first major personal popular science websites, and started the related ScienceForums.com in 2003. Due to illness he had to let both sites go in 2013.
Between 2000 and 2010, Tormod reviewed, recommended or discussed more than 100 popular science books on NRK Radio (Norway's national broadcaster) as a freelancer. Some reviews also appeared at Norwegian public science website Forskning.no. In 2002, he also served as a full time science reporter interviewing scientists including Brian Greene, John Barrow, and George Dyson.
Tormod then became the web editor for the Norwegian Space Centre (2003-2008), now the Norwegian Space Agency. While there, he also did extensive public outreach and appeared on public radio and television several times as spokesman for various topics. Tormod also wrote and edited popular science publications for kids.
He was also the corporate web manager for Visma (2009-2010), and ran the communication agency Konstabel Strategisk Kommunikasjon 2011-2013. In 2013 he became the Chief Marketing Officer for Norwegian IT company Puzzlepart, a post he held until December 2024.
Today Tormod works for a major global consultancy, where he advises government agencies and corporate clients on implementing, governing and getting ROI from generative AI.
Science Reader, launched in October 2023, is a personal project Tormod runs in his spare time. His goal is to satisfy his need to do science communication, and to learn how AI can assist reliably and responsibly in creative communication work.
